by Jon 15 Jul 2024
Best 3 point shooter in every NBA team

In the NBA, the art of shooting a three-pointer requires a stable form, smooth shooting touch, timing, and enough separation from all the intense defense in the league. But what does it take to record 1,000, or even 3,000 three-pointers in the most competitive league in the globe?

In this article, we will discuss the best three-point shooters of all time in every NBA team. It’s important to note that the amount of three-points made isn’t the only factor weighed in this article. A shooter’s efficiency and shots taken to shots made ratio are heavily considered as well to truly determine the best three-point shooters of every NBA team.

The Best 3-point Shooter in every NBA team (All Time)

So, what are you waiting for? Let’s swish down to the list!

Philadelphia 76ers & Atlanta Hawks – Kyle Korver

Best 3-point Shooter in every NBA team

Career Averages: 1,232 GP, 25.3 MPG, 9.7 PTS (44.2 FG%, 42.9 3PT%), 3.0 REB, 1.7 AST, 0.7 STL, 0.3 BLK

Notable achievements: 1× NBA All-Star, 4x NBA Three-Point Field Goal Percentage Leader, 1x NBA Three-Point Field Goals Made Leader, 5th in NBA All-Time 3-Point Field Goals Made, 10th in NBA All-Time Three-Point Percentage

While Allen Iverson leads the 76ers in the all-time three-point field goal made, Kyle was way more efficient and flushed down almost 800 threes in half the time AI did it. Kyle in the A was a shooting machine as well as he set records left and right; he also helped take the squad into the playoffs multiple times.

Milwaukee Bucks, Boston Celtics, Miami Heat & Seattle Supersonics – Ray Allen

Best 3-point Shooter in every NBA team seattle

Career Averages: 1,300 GP, 35.6 MPG, 18.9 PTS (45.2 FG%, 40.0 3PT%), 4.1 REB, 3.4 AST, 1.1 STL, 0.2 BLK

Notable achievements: 2× NBA Champion, 10× NBA All-Star, 1× All-NBA Second Team, 1x All-NBA Third Team, 1x NBA Three-Point Contest Champion, 1997 NBA All-Rookie First Team, 2nd in NBA All-Time 3-Point Field Goals Made, NBA 75th Anniversary Team

This one is pretty obvious and it’s easy to say that Ray Allen is the best three-point shooter in all of the teams that he’s played for. Not only that he was efficient in raining down threes, but he was also able to hit down clutch shots when it was needed from him the most. Remember his game-saving clutch three in Game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals?

Chicago Bulls – Steve Kerr

Best 3-point Shooter in every NBA team chicago

Career Averages: 910 GP, 17.8 MPG, 6.0 PTS (47.9 FG%, 45.4 3PT%), 1.2 REB, 1.8 AST, 0.5 STL, 0.1 BLK

Notable achievements: 9x NBA Champion (5 as a player, 4 as a coach), 2015 NBA Coach of the Year, 1997 All-Star Weekend, Three-Point Contest Winner, 234th in NBA All-Time Three-Point Field Goals Made.

Arguably one of the most efficient three-point shooters of all time, Steve Kerr was a key member of the Chicago Bulls dynasty, as well as the San Antonio Spurs Squad. He was also able to hit down clutch shots when he needed to. Currently, he’s the coach of the Golden State Warriors, one of the best three-point shooting

Cleveland Cavaliers – Mark Price

Best 3-point Shooter in every NBA team cleveland

Career Averages: 722 GP, 29.9 MPG, 15.2 PTS (47.2 FG%, 40.2 3PT%), 2.6 REB, 6.7 AST, 1.2 STL, 0.1 BLK

Notable achievements: 1x All-NBA First Team, 3x All-NBA Third Team, 148th in NBA All-Time Three-Point Field Goals Made.

Undefeated in every three-point shootout that he’s ever participated in, Mark Price is the clear choice for the best three-point shooter ever for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Even though he has way fewer three-point field goals made than LeBron James and Kevin Love, Mark was a way more efficient shooter.

Los Angeles Clippers – J.J. Redick

Best 3-point Shooter in every NBA teamla clippers

Career Averages: 940 GP, 25.5 MPG, 12.8 PTS (44.7 FG%, 41.5 3PT%), 2.0 REB, 2.0 AST, 0.4 STL, 0.1 BLK

Notable achievements: 2x Consensus National college player of the Year, 2x Consensus, National First-team all American, 16th in NBA All-Time Three-Point Field Goals Made

J.J. is a clear choice for this one with Erik Piatkowski at a close second. Erik has more three-point conversions for the Los Angeles Clippers but J.J.’s efficiency and accuracy in both on and off-the-dribble threes are unmatched. J.J. shot 44% from the three-point land during his 4-season stay with the Clippers.

Memphis Grizzlies & Orlando Magic – Mike Miller

Best 3-point Shooter in every NBA team memphis

Career Averages: 1032 GP, 26.9 MPG, 10.6 PTS (45.9 FG%, 40.7 3PT%), 4.2 REB, 2.6 AST, 0.6 STL, 0.2 BLK

Notable achievements: 2× NBA Champion, 2006 NBA Sixth Man of the Year, 2001 NBA All-Rookie First Team, 1998 McDonalds All American, 33rd in NBA All-Time Three-Point Field Goals Made

This one’s a close call between Mike and Shane Battier but Mike shot the three at a much better percentage and dropped more in a shorter amount of time. It was the same story minus Shane in Orlando as Mike was also the player anchoring the threes for the squad.

Charlotte Hornets – Dell Curry

Best 3-point Shooter in every NBA team hornets

Career Averages: 1,083 GP, 21.7 MPG, 11.7 PTS (45.7 FG%, 40.2 3PT%), 2.4 REB, 1.8 AST, 0.9 STL, 0.2 BLK

Notable achievements: 1994 NBA Sixth Man of the Year, 1986 Consensus Second-Team All-American, 1982 McDonalds All-American, 73rd in NBA Three-Point Field Goals Made

If you’re wondering why Stephen Curry is so good at shooting from three, well, it runs in the blood. Now you might say that Kemba Walker should be the one on this list as he has more three-point field goals made for the Charlotte Hornets but Dell was a more efficient player in terms of the three-ball.

In his best three-point shooting season, he shot a whopping 47%. Talk about accuracy and efficiency!

Utah Jazz – Joe Ingles

Best 3-point Shooter in every NBA team utah jazz

Career Averages: 590 GP, 25.7 MPG, 8.6 PTS (44.9 FG%, 40.8 3PT%), 3.2 REB, 3.8 AST, 0.9 STL, 0.2 BLK

Notable achievements: 1× NBL Champion, 2x NBL All Star, 2007 NBL Rookie of the Year, 117th in NBA Three-Point Field Goals Made

It’s debatable whether Kyle should be up here for the Utah Jazz as well but Joe shot the three-ball as efficiently as Kyle but recorded way more in his tenure with the Utah franchise with a total of 1,071 threes. Joe was also able to hit clutch shots when he was needed the most.

Sacramento Kings & New Orleans Pelicans – Peja Stojakovic

Best 3-point Shooter in every NBA team sacramento kings

Career Averages: 804 GP, 33.5 MPG, 17.0 PTS (45.0 FG%, 40.1 3PT%), 4.7 REB, 1.8 AST, 0.9 STL, 0.1 BLK

Notable achievements: 1× Champion, 3x NBA All-Star, 1x All-NBA Second Team, 2x NBA Three-Point Contest Champion, 25th in NBA Three-Point Field Goals Made

This one should be no surprise for anyone that we chose Peja for both the Sacramento Kings and New Orleans Pelicans. Although Buddy Hield was a close second as he leads the Kings with most three-points made at 1,248 and counting, Peja is still a more efficient shooter. Peja also took way tougher shots but still ranked just behind Hield at 1,070 threes; he also led the squad in multiple playoff runs.

New York Knicks – Allan Houston

Best 3-point Shooter in every NBA team new york knicks

Career Averages: 839 GP, 33.7 MPG, 17.3 PTS (44.4 FG%, 40.2 3PT%), 2.9 REB, 2.4 AST, 0.7 STL, 0.2 BLK

Notable achievements: 59th in NBA Three-Point Field Goals Made

Allan is our choice for this one even though John Starks is a close second as he leads the Knicks all-time made threes with 982 threes, Allan is just a few threes behind at 921 but he did it in way fewer games. Allan’s efficiency with the three-ball secured his spot in this list for the Knicks.

Los Angeles Lakers – Byron Scott

Best 3-point Shooter in every NBA team la lakers

Career Averages: 1,073 GP, 28.1 MPG, 14.1 PTS (48.2 FG%, 37.0 3PT%), 2.8 REB, 2.5 AST, 1.1 STL, 0.3 BLK

Notable achievements: 3x NBA Champion, 1x NBA Coach of the Year, 211th in NBA Three-Point Field Goals Made

Kobe Bryant or Derek Fisher might be the first players that will pop in your mind when you hear the Los Angeles Lakers but our pick for this one is Byron Scott. A key member of the Showtime Lakers, Byron was an efficient three-point shooter and he also knocked down clutch baskets from time-to-time. This solidifies his case to be a part of this list.

Dallas Mavericks – Dirk Nowitzki

Best 3-point Shooter in every NBA team dallas

Career Averages: 1,522 GP, 33.8 MPG, 20.7 PTS (47.1 FG%, 38.0 3PT%), 7.5 REB, 2.4 AST, 0.8 STL, 0.8 BLK

Notable achievements: 1x NBA Champion, 1x Finals MVP, 1× NBA Most Valuable Player, 14× NBA All-Star, 4× All-NBA First Team, 5x All-NBA Second Team, 3x All-NBA Third Team, 1x NBA Three-Point Contest Champion, 13th in NBA Three-Point Field Goals Made

Arguably one of the best shooting big mans of all time and also arguable the best European player of all time, Dirk is a clear choice for the Dallas franchise. Not only did he win the NBA three-point contest as a center, which is rarely seen in his era, he also knocked down threes on a nightly basis like it was perimeter jump shots.

Brooklyn Nets – Joe Harris

Best 3-point Shooter in every NBA team brooklyn nets

Career Averages: 414 GP, 25.6 MPG, 11.1 PTS (48.3 FG%, 43.9 3PT%), 3.2 REB, 1.6 AST, 0.5 STL, 0.2 BLK

Notable achievements: 1x NBA Three-Point Contest Champion, 2013 First Team All-ACC, 2014 ACC Tournament MVP, 173rd in NBA Three-Point Field Goals Made

Again, one of the obvious choices in this list, Joe is an excellent three-point weapon from the Nets and even though he’s only played a few seasons with the squad, he’s already proven that he’s the best three-point shooter in the franchise’s history. His 43.9 3-point percentage speaks for itself and in his best season, he shot an absurd 47% from the three.

Denver Nuggets – J.R. Smith

Best 3-point Shooter in every NBA team denver nuggets

Career Averages: 977 GP, 26.9 MPG, 12.4 PTS (41.9 FG%, 37.3 3PT%), 3.1 REB, 2.1 AST, 1.0 STL, 0.2 BLK

Notable achievements: 2× NBA champion, 2013 NBA Sixth Man of the Year, 2012 CBA Scoring Champion, 2004 McDonald’s All-American Game Co-MVP, 17th in NBA Three-Point Field Goals Made

J.R. is our pick for this portion of this list as he is second in total threes made in the Nuggets while hitting heavily-guarded shots and threes from way behind the arc. He shot 40% from deep in his best Nugget season. He was also able help push the Nuggets in a playoff run for a few seasons.

Indiana Pacers – Reggie Miller

Best 3-point Shooter in every NBA team indiana pace

Career Averages: 18.2 points (47.1 FG%, 39.5 3pt%), 3.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.1 steals, 0.2 blocks @ 34.3 min/game

Notable Achievements: 5x NBA All-Star, 3x All-NBA First Team, NBA 75th Anniversary Team, 4th in NBA Three-Point Field Goals Made

Without a doubt, Reggie Miller should be everyone’s pick for Indiana Pacer’s greatest three-point shooter. Before Steph Curry and Ray Allen stepped foot in the league, Reggie was considered as the best three-point shooter in the whole league so it’s safe to say that he’s the best of his era.

Detroit Pistons – Chauncey Billups

Best 3-point Shooter in every NBA team detroit pistons

Career Averages: 1,043 GP, 31.6 MPG, 15.2PTS (41.5 FG%, 38.7 3PT%), 2.9 REB, 5.4 AST, 1.0 STL, 0.2 BLK

Notable achievements: 1× NBA Champion, 1x NBA Finals MVP, 20th in NBA Three-Point Field Goals Made

This one’s a tough call between Chauncey and Joe Dumars but if we had to choose between the two, we’re going with Chauncey. While Joe is the 3-point leader of the Pistons at 990, Chauncey was able to hit 890 in just 8 seasons compared to Joe’s 14. This just proves that Chauncey was more efficient in knocking down threes. He’s also an important player in Detroit’s championship run as he hit down crucial and clutch shots down the wire.

Toronto Raptors – Kyle Lowry

Best 3-point Shooter in every NBA team toronto rapters

Career Averages: 1,023 GP, 31.9 MPG, 14.8 PTS (42.5 FG%, 36.8 3PT%), 4.4 REB, 6.3 AST, 1.3 STL, 0.3 BLK

Notable achievements: 1× NBA Champion, 6x NBA All-Star, 1x All-NBA Third Team, All-Time Leader in Three-Point Field Goals for the Toronto Raptors, 15th in NBA Three-Point Field Goals Made

This is an easy choice and we all know that the best three-point shooter of the Toronto Raptors is Kyle Lowry. Kyle was the face of the Toronto franchise and he helped bring the trophy home back in 2019 alongside Kawhi Leonard. With a smooth stroke and seemingly limitless range, Kyle is a deadly three-point specialist and he’s miles and miles away to whoever the second placer for this list is.

Houston Rockets – James Harden

Best 3-point Shooter in every NBA team houston rockets

Career Averages: 942 GP, 34.6 MPG, 24.9 PTS (44.2 FG%, 36.1 3PT%), 5.6 REB, 6.8 AST, 1.5 STL, 0.5 BLK

Notable achievements: 1× NBA Most Valuable Player, 10× NBA All-Star, 6× All-NBA First Team, 1x All-NBA Third Team, 1x NBA Assists Leader, 2012 NBA Sixth Man of the Year, 2010 NBA All-Rookie Second Team, 3rd in NBA Three-Point Field Goals Made

Just like Kyle, this is a clear choice as well because if it’s not James then who is? Equipped with his step-back threes, James climbed the ladder of the all-time three-point field goals made and is currently at the #3 spot. It’s going to take a little bit more push before he catches up to Ray Allen at #2 but it’s definitely possible. James’ quickness and shiftiness make it easier for him to knock down insane step-back threes.

San Antonio Spurs – Patty Mills

Best 3-point Shooter in every NBA team san antonio spurs

Career Averages: 820 GP, 20.7 MPG, 9.2 PTS (42.6 FG%, 38.9 3PT%), 1.7 REB, 2.3 AST, 0.7 STL, 0.1 BLK

Notable achievements: 1× NBA Champion, 47th in NBA Three-Point Field Goals Made

The San Antonio Spurs have a lot of amazing three-point shooters like Danny Green for example but Patty Mills deserves the nod on this list for his inhuman three-point shooting performance in the 2014 NBA Finals against the Miami Heat. Patty Shot 56% from downtown in that series, while in some games he shot for a whopping 66%. He was one of the key players that stopped the Heat from getting their three-peat.

Phoenix Suns – Steve Nash

Best 3-point Shooter in every NBA team phoexni suns

Career Averages: 1,217 GP, 31.3 MPG, 14.3 PTS (49.0 FG%, 42.8 3PT%), 3.0 REB, 8.5 AST, 0.7 STL, 0.1 BLK

Notable achievements: 2× NBA Most Valuable Player, 8× NBA All-Star, 3× All-NBA First Team, 2x All-NBA Second Team, 2x All-NBA Third Team, 5x NBA Assists Leader, Phoenix Suns Ring of Honor, 29th in NBA Three-Point Field Goals Made

Without a doubt, Steve Nash is the clear option for this one although some might argue that this should be Devin Booker. But Steve is a member of the illustrious 50/40/90 club which requires you to shoot 40% from deep and not a lot of players can do that. Steve was the leader of the Suns and he took them deep into the Playoffs as well and his three-pointers were a part of that as well.

Minnesota Timberwolves – Karl Anthony Towns

Best 3-point Shooter in every NBA team timberwolves

Career Averages: 482 GP, 34.2 MPG, 23.2 PTS (52.7 FG%, 39.7 3PT%), 11.3 REB, 3.1 AST, 0.8 STL, 1.4 BLK

Notable achievements: 2022 NBA Three-Point Contest Champion, 2x NBA All-Star, 2015 NBA Rookie of the Year

Some might argue that this should be Kevin Love but Karl Anthony has proved that he is the better shooter in the past few seasons. Not only that his 3-point percentage improved by a mile, he also won the 2022 NBA three-point contest, a rare sight for forwards and centers to win. KAT is definitely the franchise player of the Timberwolves for a few seasons now and he’s only getting better with the three-ball. We should expect to see more from KAT in the next seasons to come.

Portland Trail Blazers – Damian Lillard

Best 3-point Shooter in every NBA team trail blazers

Career Averages: 711 GP, 36.3 MPG, 24.6 PTS (43.7 FG%, 37.3 3PT%), 4.2 REB, 6.6 AST, 1.0 STL, 0.3 BLK

Notable achievements: 6× NBA All-Star, 1× All-NBA First Team, 4x All-NBA Second Team, 1x All-NBA Third Team, 2020 NBA Bubble MVP, 2x NBA-All Star Skills Challenge Winner, 2013 NBA Rookie of the Year, 75th Anniversary Team, 9th in NBA Three-Point Field Goals Made

Again, one of the easy and obvious choices for this list and for the Trail Blazers, it’s Dame Time. Dame has been carrying the Trail Blazers on his back for a few seasons now and he’s put out incredible shooting performances over the years now. From “The Shot” over Paul George to his historic NBA Bubble performance, Dame is the clear option for this list and he’ll still be the choice for this list even if he transfers teams.

Golden State Warriors – Stephen Curry

Best 3-point Shooter in every NBA team golden state warrior

Career Averages: 826 GP, 34.3 MPG, 24.3 PTS (47.3 FG%, 42.8 3PT%), 4.6 REB, 6.5 AST, 1.7 STL, 0.2 BLK

Notable achievements: 4× NBA champion, 1× NBA Finals MVP, 2× NBA Most Valuable Player, 2x NBA Scoring Champion, 1x NBA Steals Leader, 8× NBA All-Star, 1x NBA-All Star MVP, 2x NBA All-Star Three Point Champion, 4× All-NBA First Team, 3x All-NBA Second Team, 1x All-NBA Third Team, 2010 All-Rookie First Team, 75th Anniversary Team, Most Three-Pointers Made in NBA History (3,117)

If you don’t see Steph in this list, then there’s something wrong with this article. Kidding aside, Steph has proven time and time again that he is the best shooter in the world, and no one’s even close. Steph has been putting out unparalleled numbers and his recent playoff performance is a testament to his greatness. It’s safe to say that no one will ever reach nor surpass the standard that Steph has set in terms of three-point shooting.

Washington Wizards – Tim Legler

Career Averages: 310 GP, 16.9 MPG, 7.0 PTS (44.7 FG%, 43.1 3PT%), 1.6 REB, 1.3 AST, 0.5 STL, 0.1 BLK

In his best three-point shooting season, Tim recorded a three-point percentage of 52% and in that season, he attempted at least three three-pointers per game. His incredible shooting season is enough proof to solidify his case in this list.

Shooting a three-pointer is really difficult given the distance a player has to cover and the intense defense that the NBA naturally has; but some players are still able to rise to the occasion and consistently shoot down threes every single game and on nights where it’s needed the most by their teams.

This list is just a general overview of the best NBA three-point shooters ever in every team; this may vary if other factors are weighed in. We hope that this article helped determine the best NBA three-point shooters ever in every team.

We hope to see you in our next posts!
