The Tiro collection is Adidas’ training and activewear collection. Two popular editions are the 2019 and 2021 collections. So what’s the difference between the Adidas Tiro 19 and 21?
The biggest difference between Adidas Tiro 19 and 21 is the fabric technology. Tiro 19 uses ClimaCool, while Tiro 21 uses AEROREADY, which is an upgrade. Tiro 21 also uses recycled materials (Primegreen), whereas Tiro 19 uses non-recycled materials.
Nonetheless, there are other differences including the iconic three stripes on the sides of both training pants. In this post, let’s examine the Tiro 19 vs. 21 comparison.
Key Differences Between Tiro 19 and 21
- Tiro 21 uses upgraded breathable fabric technology – While Tiro 19 uses ClimaCool, Tiro 21 uses AEROREADY, which is an upgrade over the ClimaCool technology.
- Tiro 21 uses recycled materials – Unlike Tiro 19 which uses non-recycled materials, Tiro 21 is made with Primegreen, a series of high-performance recycled materials.
- Tiro 19 has longer stripes – The three stripes on the sides of Tiro 19 run from the waist to the ankles, whereas the three stripes on the sides of Tiro 21 end just below the knees.
Adidas Tiro 19 vs. 21 Comparison
The Adidas Tiro collection is a collection made up of training pants, training jackets, active tops, and accessories. Adidas upgrades and renames the collection once every two years. I will focus on the training pants for this comparison.
Tiro 19 represents the Tiro collection for the year 2019, whereas the Tiro 21 represents the Tiro collection for the year 2021. Let’s examine both Tiro collections in greater detail.
Comfort and fit comparison
Since its inception in 2015, the Adidas Tiro collection has been made using ClimaCool technology, which keeps you cool and dry in warm weather.
Both Tiro 19 and 21 fit true to size.
The Tiro 19 is one of the most popular track pants around. These soccer pants are very comfortable because they are cut for optimal movement since they have a tapered look and stretchy ribbed details on the lower legs to promote clean footwork.
However, the ClimaCool technology, which is present in Tiro 17 and 19, is no longer present in Tiro 21 and has been replaced by AEROREADY technology, which is a moisture-wicking fabric that absorbs water even more quickly.

The new and improved AEROREADY fabric of Tiro 21 is made from water-absorbent materials and is designed to wick sweat from your body, which keeps you feeling dry as you move.
It is a significant upgrade over the ClimaCool which allows you to feel cool, dry, and comfortable anytime. In fact, Adidas claims that the Tiro 21 is the go-anywhere and do-anything apparel.
As far as fit goes, the Tiro 21 adopts a similar fit to the Tiro 19, which is a regular tapered fit. There is plenty of room in the butt and thigh area, which does not constrict you while doing low-gravity movements, like squats or lunges.
Moving down to the ankles, both the Tiro 19 and 21 becomes thinner which creates a nice and clean tapered look. Both Tiro 19 and 21 look sleek and modern, without looking messy.
Verdict on comfort and fit: While both Tiro 19 and 21 have a nice regular tapered look, I like the Tiro 21 better because of the AEROREADY technology which dries faster than ClimaCool. It is an upgrade and makes the Tiro 21 much more comfortable.
Design comparison
One significant difference between Tiro 19 and 21 is the materials used.
Tiro 19 uses non-recycled materials, whereas Tiro 21 is made with Primegreen, a series of high-performance recycled materials, with the goal to reduce plastic waste.
Adidas launched the Primegreen technology in 2020, which is a new form of sustainable fabric that contains no virgin (or newly created) plastic.
The Primegreen performance fabric will play a big role in Adidas reaching more than 50% total volume of recycled polyester at the end of 2020, and its commitment to end plastic waste.
In my opinion, there is no difference in the appearance of the Tiro 19 and 21 fabric, so if you want to support and protect the environment, Tiro 21 is the way to go.
As far as design goes, both Tiro 19 and 21 are similar, however, one major difference is the three stripes on both sides of the pants.

The three stripes of Tiro 19 run from the waist all the way to the ankles, whereas the three stripes of Tiro 21 run only from the waist to below the knee.
Also, half of the three stripes of the Tiro 21 are slightly translucent. They are designed to add breathability to the side of your legs when doing active movements.
For some, this unique three-stripe design adds a sleek and modern aesthetic synonymous to popular streetwear design. That is why the Tiro 21, which debuted as training wear, is now a popular streetwear staple. Not only is it worn for training, but it is also worn for leisure.
It is very versatile and goes well with just about anything, especially if you pair it with clean white sneakers like the Adidas Stan Smith or Superstar.
Verdict on design: While both Tiro 19 and 21 look similar in terms of design, I like the fact that Tiro 21 uses recycled materials via Primegreen technology. Not only does it help reduce plastic waste, but it is also more popular among streetwear enthusiasts.
Final verdict
WINNER: Adidas Tiro 21
While both Tiro 19 and 21 are comfortable and aesthetically pleasing, the Tiro 21 is better because it uses upgraded AEROREADY technology which dries more quickly. Tiro 21 also uses recyclable materials as opposed to Tiro 19 which uses non-recycled materials.
And there you have it, the comparison of Tiro 19 vs. 21. Both are phenomenal training wear options that are popular as streetwear too. Be fit and be great!
